How discounts affect your commission

As a Spreadshirt Marketplace Designer, you earn your money through the design price. The amount you earn for your design depends on the country of sale, product type and sales channel. This design price overview shows you in detail how much you can earn. The amount you earn from the design price is reduced if a customer receives a volume discount for their order and/or redeems a discount code. One exception here is “free shipping” promo campaigns, which have no impact on what you earn.

Volume discounts

Spreadshirt customers receive volume discounts on large orders. Check here for the volume discount scale. If a customer buys a product with your design and receives a volume discount on that order, the discount will be deducted proportionally from your design price. For example, if the volume discount for their order is 16%, then the amount you earn from the design price will also be reduced by 16%. This also applies if, in addition to your design, the order contains products with designs that are not yours.

Promo campaigns

Spreadshirt regularly comes up with promo campaigns, offering customers special incentives to entice them to purchase something through the Marketplace. These campaigns are advertised through many different online and offline channels. If a customer redeems a discount code, the discount will be deducted proportionally from your commission. For example, if the promo campaign offers a discount of 15%, the amount you earn from the design price will also be reduced by 15%. The amount Spreadshirt earns is reduced by the same percentage, as the following diagram shows:

Combining volume discount and discount codes

If a customer redeems a discount code and receives an additional volume discount, both discounts will be added together and deducted from the commission paid for your design price. For example, if a promo campaign reduces the selling price by 15% and there is an additional volume discount of 16%, your design price commission will decrease by 31% (15%+16%=31%).

Free shipping is always free

“Free shipping” promo campaigns are always paid for entirely by Spreadshirt. They have no influence on your commission.
